Contact me with any questions that aren’t addressed below!
Is my work kept confidential?
Absolutely. I will never share your material without your permission. I am happy to sign an NDA if you provide one.
What type of edit does my book need?
I will give you my recommendation for type of edit after performing a sample edit of an excerpt from your manuscript. But you likely already have an idea of the type of edit needed – through feedback from your beta readers, your level of confidence in your grasp of the craft of writing, your goals in writing this work, and other factors.
What is your turnaround time?
Turnaround time varies depending on the type of edit, the length of the work, and my current project queue. A full developmental edit takes at least a couple weeks, as it involves a great deal of collaboration and a few passes through the manuscript. For a copy edit or proofread of 50,000 words I budget up to 1.5 weeks.
What are my payment options?
Typically, I ask for half the total project fee up front, with the final half due upon delivery. However, I am open to designing payment plans on an individual basis. I accept payment via Paypal, Zelle, or Cash App.
Will you send me a contract for the work?
Yes! Before beginning work, I will draft a contract that clearly states my services, fees, and policies. I ask for your electronic signature before beginning work on your project.
What is your editing method?
I work in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes and Comments features. I consult the appropriate style guide and dictionary (for books, the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed., and the Merriam-Webster dictionary) and I keep a style sheet.
Is typesetting/interior layout included in your services?
No, I do not offer typesetting or interior layout beyond the basic formatting which Microsoft Word allows. I recommend hiring a professional to do this, as well as cover design, for you.
How soon canyou start on my project?
I am usually booked from one to three months in advance, but sometimes I have immediate availability.
